We’re asking our community for support to help us stay steady through a challenging season

Quince Coffee House is a Queer, Vetran, BIPOC, owned and operated community space on Colfax that exists to offer warmth, safety, and connection, especially for folx who are often pushed to the margins.

Like many small businesses, Quince has been navigating increasing costs, unpredictable revenue, and the ongoing reality that it is simply harder than ever to operate a values-driven, people-first space.

Over time, financial strain and expenses have added up, especially as we’ve worked to pay our staff fairly, remain compliant, and keep our doors open even when margins are tight.

Joy as Resistance, our upstairs tenant, an incredible and amazing nonprofit that provided therapy, programming, and mentorship for queer and trans youth has been faced with their own financial hardship and has been forced to end operations. We are so sad for this devastating loss, and this change has created an unexpected gap in our monthly income that we now need to bridge.

We’re also entering a new period of uncertainty as the Colfax Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project begins on our corridor. While we believe in improved public transit and long-term accessibility, construction brings short-term disruption that is especially difficult for small, independent businesses like ours.

We’re doing everything we can to adapt, and we’re asking for help to do so without losing what makes Quince what it is.
